“The most impressive record I’ve seen so far is Snowtown’s, where 45.2 is a December record for old and new sites combined (data back to 1908). The current Port Augusta site is a fair bit hotter than its predecessors but 47.2 is still an impressive number.

  1. In 1897, Adelaide had 5 days of +39C. Probably just shy of this record max-wise but if one takes in to account the minimum temps, the mean temp was far higher than 2015.
Since the BoM’s new definition of heatwave takes in minimum temps, I’ll give the record to 1897.
The 29th Dec, 1897 had a minimum of 31.8C (1958 has the record for Dec).

  2. Hmm it looks like your website ate my first comment (it was extremely long) so I guess I’ll just sum it up what I wrote and say, I’m thoroughly enjoying your blog. I as well am an aspiring blog blogger but I’m still new to the whole thing. Do you have any tips and hints for rookie blog writers? I’d really appreciate it.
